General Information

The following outlines some general expectations and information for enrolled families.

Clothing

Students will spend much time in the field, at seashores, and occasionally in the water. For their own protection, students and accompanying parent/drivers must wear appropriate shoes and protective clothing such as sneakers and long, light colored pants.

Driving Field Trips

One adult will accompany four students on every driving field trip. Drivers must have a valid driver’s license and be at least 25 years old. The vehicle must have a valid and current registration, and valid and current license plates. The vehicle must be insured for the following minimum liability insurance limits: $100,000 per person/$300,000 per occurrence. Every student will sit in a seat, seat-belted. All drivers must use the prescribed route to and from the site. No one besides enrolled students and faculty may accompany the drivers during the field trips.

Drop-off and pick-up

If children commute to school by car, the driver must arrive on the school side of the street, driving from north to south (Millfield St. towards Water St.) All children must exit the car onto the school’s sidewalk, so that the crossing of School St. is unnecessary.

Visitors

In order to ensure an uninterrupted classroom atmosphere, no parent, friend, or sibling of a student may visit a class while the school is in session. We are happy to arrange for visitors at other times.

First Aid and emergency care

A first aid kit is carried on all field trips. If emergency care is necessary, our policy, and that of the Falmouth Hospital, is to contact parents or guardians. CSS must provide a signed release form, which is part of this application and will be kept on file in the school office, in order for the hospital to provide treatment except in life-threatening circumstances. Please be certain to provide the school with updated phone numbers and information if there are changes during the summer.
