COVID-19 Updates

Status as of February 15, 2021:

Normally, at this time of year we would be excited to be sharing with you an announcement notifying you of our upcoming courses and the opening of registration. Unfortunately, because of the uncertainty attendant with the ongoing pandemic and therefore our ability to safely and effectively hold classes five months from now, we have decided to delay our registration schedule by a least several weeks.

We have assembled a COVID Planning Task Force, consisting of our Interim Director, Aaron Sloboda, and several qualified members of the CSS board and volunteers, to interpret public health guidance concerning practices and protocols designed to prevent the spread of COVID-19. Our goal is to create a CSS experience that reflects our core value of learning from nature through direct interaction and observation, while ensuring the health and safety of our students, teachers, assistants, families, and broader community.

Our planning process is currently ongoing and is likely to affect our mix of course offerings, classroom activities, field trips, class size, registration process, and possibly even the location and daily schedule of our classes. In addition, because of space constraints, we may need to impose a limitation on the number of courses in which any one student can enroll. We appreciate your patience as we consider this host of both big picture and operational details. While we currently fully anticipate holding CSS classes in Woods Hole in some form this summer, the national and local situations are continually evolving and we will all need to remain flexible.

We wish we could provide you with more information at this time to help with your own family’s planning, but we promise to inform you of our plans as soon as possible.
